Three Home Roofing Options
A properly installed, well-maintained roof is important for protecting the infrastructure of home. There are a number of different materials that are used for roofs. Where you live, style of house and budget are all factors that can help determine the best home roofing options.
Asphalt Shingles
Asphalt shingles are one of the most popular types of roofs. They are relatively inexpensive and also extremely durable. Typically, asphalt shingle roofs carry at least a 20 year guarantee, and in some cases a 30 year one. They are also pretty easy to repair, if necessary, and come in over 10 different colors, in both solid and blended shades

Wood Shingles
Another of the home roofing options is wood shingles. These types of roofs are very attractive, but also more expensive. The shingles mainly come from Eastern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar or Alaskan Yellow Cedar trees. They usually weather to a lovely hue of gray or soft silver that can blend the roof and home into the landscape. Wood shingle roofs do require some maintenance which involves washing them to get rid of any accumulated mildew or mold. After being washed, the shingles need to be re-oiled using a clear finishing product. A properly maintained wood shingle roof can last 30-50 years. Sometimes the nails used will begin to rust and wear out before the shingles do.

Metal
Corrugated metal roofs are one of the longest lasting types of roofs, and a very good fit for parts of the country that get a lot of snow or have lots of agriculture. They are not very costly and easy to install, and are often found on barns, sheds and other utility buildings. Copper roofs are an elegant type of metal roof that can be found on expensive homes and upscale buildings. Sometimes bay windows will feature copper roofs.
Choosing the right roof is an important decision for a homeowner. These three types of roofs are all great home roofing options.
